We're born out of a real sense of indignation.

Founded in Stockholm 2018, we might be born in Sweden, but we're actually more the result of Syrian immigrants. The founding brothers, Jimmy and Shamon, fled to Sweden and the family struggled to make ends meet, being excluded from a lot of things most people take for granted. So one day, their mother took an unsecured loan from a big, well-known, bank in order to help their two sons pursue their artistic dreams, buying them equipment they claimed essential to their creative endeavors. Jimmy and Shamon soon abandoned that dream, as kids do, but what stuck, what lingered far longer than they could've imagined, was the loan.

Years later they realized that even if their mother had paid what it said on the invoice, in time every month, the debt was actually increasing. The big, well-known, bank had taken advantage of the fact that she had little or no knowledge of the credit's terms and conditions, in fact tricking her into a never ending spiral of increasing debt.

The brothers, outraged and intrigued in equal measures, started digging into what had happened and found that the big, well-known, bank - along with most other credit and loans - were systematically being sneaky and dishonest in order to maximize their profit. They thought to themselves, “it has to be possible to create a credit service that is fair, that is built on mutual trust and respect, that isn't all about making shit shittier for vulnerable and unaware people”. That thought sparked “The Fair Loan Project” which became Fairlo which has become a much liked service for thousands of people which, if you've read this far, is something you might also have an interest in.
